Sixth season as head coach. The first Israeli coach to win three Euro Cups,two of them back-to-back. Elected 2004/05 Euroleague Coach of the Year.

Joined Maccabi in November 1998 and left on June 2001. Returned in September 2003. His record in five seasons includes: Three Euro titles (2001 in Paris, 2004 in Tel Aviv, 2005 in Moscow) and one Final (Thessaloniki 2000), five Premier League Championships and five National Cups.

His career as player was on the old op         en court in Maccabi Street at the center to Tel Aviv, very close to his home. Played for the Maccabi Tel Aviv Juniors and as a senior for Maccabi Darom Tel Aviv. Played for the National team for Juniors Men.

At the age of 23 stopped playing and started coaching the juniors of Beitar Tel Aviv and later the first team. Later coached in the following clubs: Hapoel Holon, Hapoel Gan Shmuel, Hapoel Galil Elyon (three spells). Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Maccabi Ramat Gan, Maccabi Rishon Letsion (two spells) & Hapoel Jerusalem.

His best achievement before arriving to Maccabi Tel Aviv was in 1993 where he won the championship with Hapoel Galil Elyon. In the same season the team reached the semi finals of the Saporta Cup. In 1996 he led Hapoel Jerusalem to win the National Cup, beating Maccabi Tel Aviv n Yad Eliyahu. They also reached the Final of the League Playoff where they lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv..

Gershon was assistant coach of the national team in the pre-olympic tournament in France in 1984. Between 1994 – 1996 he was head coach of the U. 22 National Team that was ranked 9th in the European Championship.
